How do I add new content to my Djinngo?

You can either browse through the profile of your friends and see what they aggregate or browse through the contents already available in Djinngo by exploring the gallery, finally you can also add new content you're interested in.

Today, we offer you 3 ways to add new content:

    1. enter a feed url: add manually the RSS feed from the site you're interested in by clicking on my stuff/add new feed
      then
  1. once you added the feed, this feed will be displayed on your current page as well as archived in your content sources
  2. import an opml file: you can also import an opml file inmy stuff/add new feed
This means that if you are currently using another RSS reader that allows to save your feeds as an opml export then you will be able to import all your favorite feeds in Djinngo in one single time. A painless way to come and test our service using your favorite content. In your feed reader, export the opml file by saving it to your disk, then import it in Djinngo by browsing your disk and finding that file.
  3. Once you imported an opml file, you will be able to find your content backs in my stuffs/my sources and organize it the way you want on your pages
  4. feed grabber: you can also install our Firefox extension by going to tools
  5. This extension allows you to very easily add content of interest to your Djinngo provided that the website allows it and offers RSS, this just by clicking on the Djinngo extension.

Public/Private, Tagging: what's that for?

When you add new content in your Djinngo:

  • You can specify if this feed is text, picture or audio and we will display the content accordingly
  • You can choose to make it public or private
By making your feed public, you add it to the catalog of content available to any member of the community, thereby growing anyone's chance of discovering great new content. You can allways change this later by clicking on Edit in the module of your feed.
  • you can also choose to add tags
We think tagging is a great way to categorize your content, this to find it easier afterwards.
  • Tag the feeds using as many descriptive words as you want seperated by a space or a comma. To enter simple sentences as tags, use quotation marks (i.e: "San Francisco" for san francisco)
  • You can add/edit your tags by clicking on Edit in the module of your feed.
  • Also, if you tag a feed that you decide to make public, another person looking for that same keyword will be able to find your feed, and hop, you just helped another person finding great content.
  • And what comes around goes around, so you too, you will be able to discover great new content and services thanks to other people tagging their sources with keywords of interest to you.

What if I delete a block?

    Search my sources

Search my sources allows you to do a search on an item of interest, this on all the sources you subscribe to, not only what you see on your pages.

  • The search results will appear in a new module that you can choose to keep.

  • If you keep it, it will get refreshed automatically when new contents related to that keyword come up.

  • We feel that this search feature is very powerful and in fact it was at the start of our work on this service. You have so much content in so many places, how do you keep on top of what interests you?

  • A personalized portal helps you have all in one place, but still, pretty quick if you start adding to your pages all what you're interested in, you find yourself in a situation of information overload.

  • With this search module, you can unclutter your page: subscribe to as many sources as you want, but you're not allways obliged to have them all on your page, just create searches on subjects you're interested in and voila, we give you the nitty-gritty on these subjects from all of your favorite sources in one little box.

  • Some tips for a better search:

Looking for an exact sentence? use quotation marks (i.e "San Francisco" for San Francisco)

  • Requiring all your search terms to be present in the results? use the command "AND" (i.e: Movies AND Comedy)

    Popular Keywords

From all the content sources you chose to aggregate, we retrieve the most popular metadata associated to them so that you can easily view what's currently hot with your content. You can drag and drop any of these keywords to your webtop and this will display all the content related to these keywords. You can then save this block and everyday it will get refreshed with the newest content associated with that keyword. We think this keyword cloud is an easy way to see what's up with your sources.

I see a link to an item but when I click on preview, I get a message saying that the content is not available anymore, what's happening?

In order to be able to search through your content, we keep an index of all the metadata/keywords associated with an item that has been published. If what you are subscribing to involves pictures and video, we also create a small thumbnail from that picture for display purposes (we like it better to look at our pictures and video feeds through thumbnails) If the publisher decides to remove that item, we will still have a reference to that item but that item will be gone... which is why you will not be able to preview it.
